From what I can gather, I have an accessory nail of the fifth toe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessory_nail_of_the_fifth_toe) on both feet. So basically, it looks like I have 2 toenails on each of my pinky toes. It is genetic & has always been there.
I’ve only just discovered that this is what it is, after years of self consciousness. I read somewhere online that someone said it is a bit inconvenient when getting a pedicure so I was just wondering if anyone would be refused because of this?
I would be so embarrassed if a nail technician refused to work on me because she didn’t know what the hell was up with my weird looking feet! Lol. It’s not a contagious nail fungus or anything, so I don’t really see the harm. Just checking.
Is anyone here qualified as a nail tech? Have you experienced a client with this? Would you refuse treatment?

I do not have insurance, so i can’t go to a Dr. The nail is very thick and growing over the top of the toe. Can i cut it off with some type of cutters, or even use a dremel tool to file it off?

I have athlete’s foot and toenail fungus, i.e., cracked heels, dry skin, discolored toenails. I know about soaking the foot in vinegar and water for 15-20 minutes morning and night, allowing to dry completely, and then adding some type of disinfectant spray/powder to the foot. However, it seems half of the remedies I read about say to not wear socks and the other half say to always wear socks. So, socks for no socks during the day???? I know that sounds crazy because we wear socks pretty much all day, so why would some people suggest to not wear socks?
BTW: Any other suggestions would be helpful such as how long does it take for the feet/toenails to clear up, etc.?
